We've started attending the summer markets. The Grand River Market in Jackson is now open though not all the vendors will be available until June. Don't let that stop you though! Ben from Mark's farm is bringing some gorgeous flowers in pots for both hanging and setting on your front stoop. He also has some really nice vegies plants to get into your gardens. Karen is bringing some really nice wreaths and flower designs for the home. Each week we will see more vendors arriving with their goodies. This market is on the corner of Mechanic and Louis Glick and goes from 9am to 2pm every Saturday.
This year we have added the Old Town Farmer's Market to our agenda. This is in the historical area of Lansing on the north end. The market is at Grand and Turner. Again we saw some great starter plants, some early lettuces and onions, honey and baked goods. Come out on and visit and be sure to leave time to check out all the great art galleries in the area. This market is the first Sunday of the month from 10am to 3pm.
Allen St in Lansing has its opening on May 22nd. This one goes every Wed from 2pm to 7pm at the corner of Allen and Kalamazoo. You can find wonderful produce at Allen St. You can keep an eye on what vendors are coming by visiting the Allen St Farmer's Market Facebook page.
Be sure to look for the red sign belonging to Hickory Knoll Creamery to find our soaps as we share the same space. Hickory Knoll will have their wonderful spreadable goat milk chevre cheeses that now includes a Pesto flavor. New to their cheese line is a mozzarella and Kronberg (my favorite) a swiss style cheese. These are both made from the milk of their brown swiss cow. You can find Hickory Knoll on Facebook too!
There will be a few dates that I won't be at the market but Rusty or Mike will be available to help so be sure to try a sample of their awesome cheeses. Also, if you know ahead what soaps you will want I can meet you at any of these markets with your order. Just send me a message via the webpage!
